Celebrating Diversity - Why it is Important

Celebrating Diversity – Why it is important

When I founded CG Recruiting Services, I wanted to create a legacy for my children.  In fact, C (Charlotte) and G (Grant) are their names.  My husband and I want to instill in them a deep understanding of equality as well as the ability to recognize when something is not fair.  We hope that we also provide them with the courage they will need to speak up and voice those inequities in the future should the need arise.

These are challenging times in our world today, especially for those who have felt the deep pangs of inequity in their daily lives.  As protesting continues, it is important that we understand the Black Lives Matters movement now more than ever. Our world is changing, and in the end, we hope for the good. We all have an opportunity to better understand why diversity it is important.

·        While not everyone has personally discriminated against others or felt discrimination against themselves, we need to acknowledge that it is an ongoing issue.  Gone are the adages of “it wasn’t me”, “I did not do that to someone”, or “everyone matters”.  Discrimination does happen and we need to not be blind to that fact. CG Recruiting is here to help its clients ensure a fair hiring process.

·        Our ability to acknowledge the existence of racism creates a greater sense of community.  This helps everyone…companies make better hiring decisions, employees thrive in an environment of equality, growth happens organically, and on and on.

In the wake of our current political and social climate, we aspire to do better and to teach our children to do better as well! Let us hope that all of this is not without growth but rather a new beginning of equality for all.
