Creating a Dynamic Company Culture

Many of us have read about Google and the many perks of working there or have even watched Vince Vaughn in The Internship and seen how culture can define a company’s total profitability.  While not every company has a budget for catered lunches, on-site car washes, etc., creating small changes can result in long-standing improvements!

Following are a few ways to define culture and create lasting results:

·        Create employee engagement by listening!  Even if is not over a catered lunch (although that would be nice) have frequent round table discussions.  Get employee feedback and make changes in processes, etc. based upon their feedback.   Knowing that you cannot be everywhere at the same time, listening to team members will provide you with the information you need for optimal efficiency.  Sometimes we may even be unaware of exiting issues, but trusting our employees can help us make needed adjustments.

·        By listening employees feel their needs are being met!  You are showing them their input matters.  Studies have shown that employers who listen are building sustainable relationships with their employees.  Thus, employees will think twice before they entertain the idea of leaving your organization.  They feel heard as well as valued based upon your interactions with them!

·        Encourage peer to peer relationships.  Whether this is by assigning a new employee an internal mentor or by having frequent work events, creating strong internal relationships is key.  If employees have a friend that works at an organization, they will also be hesitant to leave!

Creating internal relationships are the keys to success to your employee’s engagement!  Listening and making adjustments/changes where needed can go a long way! In short, investing in your employees through relationships and active listening you ensure that your employees needs are being met and you have a long-standing dynamic work culture!
