Best Interview Practices for Employers during the Interview Process

  1. Outline your interview process prior to starting your search. More specifically, who will need to be a part of the process and will this be a panel interview.

  2. Notify each candidate prior to their interview on what to expect (how many interviews and whom they will be meeting with during the hiring process).

  3. Greet each candidate warmly and be engaged. This may sound simple but turning off electronic devices and giving each candidate your full attention can go a long way with their level of engagement.

  4. Provide timely feedback. Notifying each candidate on when to expect a decision is just as important as notifying them when they did not get the position.

With Social Media being so easily accessible, it is important to remember negative candidate experiences can be shared and ultimately discourage future candidates from applying to your opportunities!
